The article considers issues associated with the assessment of personality qualities enabling one to be productive in architecture and planning. This is important primarily for understanding the essence of architectural creativity: what does creative activity manifest itself in and how is it expressed (specific of this type of activity and its products) with reference to the architect/designer; what personal qualities influence the effectiveness of the design process? Emphasis is made on the specifics of architectural creativity, defining distinctive features of architectural design thinking.
