FIELD: chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of pigment titanium oxide for food and cosmetic industry. Method of synthesis of titanium oxide with phase modification of anatase involves preparation of aqueous solution of titanyl chloride and hydrolysis of said solution with addition of ammonia to form a precipitate. Hydrolysis is carried out at pH in range from 4.7 to 5.3 so that pH value during hydrolysis remains constant. Precipitate is separated from the mother solution, then dried and roasted in an air atmosphere. Said residue is dried to constant weight at temperature of 20–140 °C, and annealing at temperature not higher than 800 °C for 0.5–24 hours. After the hydrolysis step, an additional step of washing the residue with water is carried out. EFFECT: invention enables to obtain titanium oxide having high sedimentation resistance in aqueous and aqueous-organic media.
