Book review on: Russian Siberian poetry of the XX century: Ivan Zhdanov / managing editor S. A. Komarov. Tyumen : Tyumen State University Publishing House, 2017. 392 p [12] with illustrations. (Literature stars of Siberia ; vol. 3). In the following review a composite work of Siberian academics, dedicated to a modern poet Ivan Zhdanov, is highly appreciated. Ivan Zhdanov’s work, despite its defi nitive signifi cance, has not been a subject matter of system-oriented fundamental literary analysis yet. The analysis of scientifi c logic and conceptual research centers of this monography makes it possible to state that the typological comparative method, already approved, is positively complimented with the interpretive method. A measurable complex of productive ideas, expounded in the monography, becomes a doubtless scientifi c outcome. Philological realization of these ideas, in the first instance, is indicated with intensity, typical for famous Russian poethological school, and masterful technique of the analysis of texts with “higher complexity”; in the second instance, the importance of traditional transferability of scientifi c knowledge from teacher to student is confi rmed. Two generations’ insight in the same subject of research doesn’t break the continuity of generations, but demonstrates its undeniable philological competence.
