The report examines the main malachite artifacts of P. P. Bazhov's tales: malachite box, stone flower, malachite plaques, "iron tires". All items in fairy tales have magical functions, partly going back to the function of fairy-tale items from the point of view of the concept of V. Propp. So, the malachite box is a typical "secret gift" to the hero from the "secret power", which is the owner of the Copper mountain. Due to this circumstance, the box is endowed with ambivalent functions: good and evil. The stone (malachite) flower is the personification of secret knowledge, which a person aspires to, without fully realizing the possibility of mas¬tering it. Malachite plaques with bird symbols are an artifact that can help you overcome the boundaries that divide the world of people and the world of the copper mountain of the hostess. This allows Katya to take Danila, the master, away from the mountain. Finally, zhelezkovy tires symbolize the conquest of man-made beauty of malachite, not connected with natural stone and put at the service of people. As a result, they are freed from the elements of malicious magic, get a uniquely positive connotation.
