he project is aimed at reconstructing the mechanisms of sustainable control over the annexed territories of the Russian state, which were embodied in military-administrative presence and fiscal practices. To reveal this problematic is planned on the example of the history of the military administrative presence and fiscal practices in "Little Russia" (the second half of the 17th century - 1785) - one of the key strategic territories joined by the Russian state. In the study of the topic, the acuteness of not only a historiographic but also a political plan remains. In addition to reviewing negative evaluations of the mechanisms for establishing sustainable control in "Little Russia", which have developed in historiography, one should recognize their weak source study. This is especially true for the weakly exploited potential, primarily Russian archives.
